World University Ranking by subject is one of the prestigious rankings of QS, an international ranking agency. Subject ranking indicates the strength of research output of a university in terms of both quality and quantity. It also depends on perception about the University subject areas by academic and industry leaders. ‘h index’ and citations of research publications are the other two criteria for subject ranking.
Three subject areas of Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), India are ranked by QS in 2019. Two engineering subject areas, Computer Science and Information System, Electrical and Electronic Engineering are ranked within the top 500 universities of the world and Chemistry, another subject of VIT is ranked within the top 550. Other disciplines of VIT are doing well in research and will be ranked by QS in the coming years.
