VIT Inks pact with top European Universities

VIT University, Vellore has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with five top European Institutions in Germany, Sweden and Ireland for academic and research co-operations.

According to a press release, the institutions include Technical University (TU) Dresden, Leibniz University of Hannover (LUH), University of Applied Sciences (UAS) Darmstadt, Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm and Dublin City University (DCU) Dublin, Ireland. There will be an exchange of faculty and students, joint seminars, workshops, training programmes and conferences, exchange of scholarly publications and the initiation of joint sponsored research programmes.

VIT University Chancellor G Viswanathan and assistant vice-president Kadhambari S Viswanathan, visited these countries recently and signed the joint agreements on behalf of the university, with the Rectors and Presidents of respective European universities.

Under the MoU, VIT University students and faculty members will visit these universities regularly located at Germany, Sweden and Ireland. The students and professors from the partner universities will also be able to come to VIT for study and take up joint teaching programmes.

Viswanathan said that the VIT University is proud to be a partner of these renowned European institutions because it shared common areas of interests in cutting edge technologies of research and development.

During the visit, Viswanathan also met Air Chief Marshal (Retired) Browne, Indian Ambassador and Ponnappan, Second Secretary at Indian Embassy, Oslo, Norway to establish academic co-operation with the Norwegian Universities especially in the areas of engineering and technology and visited University of Oslo, oldest university in Norway for a discussion on academic collaborations.
