Dean's Message

I am immensely pleased to welcome you to the School of Advanced Sciences, one of the oldest schools in VIT from its day of inception.

Our dedicated faculty and staff aim to inspire and develop a new generation of enlightened citizens and scientific leaders by providing them with an education that is both challenging and innovative. We see our students as an investment in the future. By fostering dynamic experiential learning, research opportunities and promoting life-long learning under the guidance of distinguished faculty, we persuade students for future employment and higher studies. Through research, our students enhance their scientific awareness and learn to apply their knowledge to solve problems aimed at making the world a better place. I am glad to emphasise that all our faculty members are doctorates and have extensive research experience abroad from reputed institutes which provide plenty of opportunities for benchmark research.

We are proud of the many accomplishments of our undergraduate, graduate students and the success of our alumni. Our students continue to impress and inspire us by bringing laurels to VIT. By receiving prestigious scholarships, awards, and taking up careers in top companies, ground-breaking research, and publications, they make the VIT flag fly high. Adding a Diamond to the Crown, the SAS-Chemistry has been ranked within the top 13 in India and top 401-450 in the world as per QS World University Rankings by Subject 2021 and 14th place at the National level with a 4 STAR rating. Mathematics has entered the QS Subject Ranking for the first time and it is ranked within the top 12 in India and top 451-500 in the world respectively.

With three departments, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, the School of Advanced Sciences offers University Core Courses for all UG and M.Tech Programmes at VIT and also offers its own Master’s Programmes in three disciplines. We are privileged to receive accreditation from the Royal Society of Chemistry for our M.Sc Chemistry program - the only RSC Accredited program. Our School pursues research in frontier areas and is supported by various funding agencies. Our publication profile is on par with any reputed institutes in the country and faculty have national and international recognitions. The SAS provides ambience more than just an excellent learning experience. It opens up horizons and instills confidence in students' minds.
