About SAS
The School of Advanced Sciences (SAS) includes Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry disciplines. The School offers M.Sc., M.Phil. and Ph.D. programs in these domains. The faculty of the entire School comprises qualified and goal-oriented members whose research expertise includes major frontier areas in Mathematics and Physics, Chemistry. The School has been receiving research grants from various funding agencies such as DST, CSIR, DRDO, NBHM, BRNS, IGCAR, AERBA, NRB and ARDB. The School has also been recognized by DST for support under the FIST program. The School will be conducting various programs such as InoVIT, Sci GATHER MathFest and VIT Mathematical Meet, which are South India level math and science contests for school children to create and encourage mathematical and scientific innovations among the students. The Department of Mathematics has a good record of organizing seminars, workshops, symposium and conferences (NCPAM, ISTAM, ICAMS) in the recent emerging technical areas.
About the Event
India celebrates 22nd December every year as National Mathematics Day to honour the birthday of the great Indian Mathematical genius Srinivasa Ramanujan who was born on 22 December 1887. In order to recognize his immense contribution towards Mathematics the Government of India had declared Ramanujan’s birthday as the National Mathematics Day.
Paying tribute to Srinivasa Ramanujan, Mathematics Department, School of Advanced Sciences, Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore is going to celebrate VIT MATH FEST on 20th December, 2019.
