The CO2 Research and Green Technologies Centre organizes a conference on “Advances in Renewable Energy and Green Technology” (ICARE-2019) during 22 - 24 August 2019. The national premier institutes - National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) & The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), and University of South Africa (UNISA) have joined hands with VIT University in organizing this conference. Dr. K. Balaraman, Director General, National Institute of Wind Energy, inaugurated the conference today. Honorable Chancellor Dr. G.Viswanathan, presided over the function. The Chancellor highlighted the importance of energy conservation and reducing the transmission loses. “Measure should be taken to cut down oil import by promoting renewable energy”, he opined. Dr. K. Balaraman in his inaugural address called upon the world countries to get network and generate renewable energy globally. Also he emphasized the needs of igniting the young minds to pursue research in the field of renewable energy. Dr. Sangita Kasture, Scientist ‘E’, Department of Biotechnology, who was the guest of honour, accounted the initiatives taken by the Government of India under Mission Innovation programme. Lifetime achievement award was conferred on H.E Mr. Upendra Tripathy Director General of International Solar Alliance (ISA) and Dr. S. P. Viswanathan, President, Empereal - KGDS Renewable Energy Pvt. Ltd, Coimbatore for their outstanding contribution to the field of Renewable Energy. View Photos
