A 21-day free Summer Sports Coaching Camp for school students organised by the VIT University, Vellore, was inaugurated by G. Viswanathan, VIT Chancellor on the VIT campus here on Thursday.

A total of 1,500 students from schools in and around Vellore are taking part in the camp during which they will be imparted training in athletics, basketball, volleyball, football, hockey, karate, chess, table tennis and yoga.

Sekar Viswanathan and G.V. Selvam, vice-presidents of VIT participated in the inaugural function. Mangayarkarasi, Deputy Director of Physical Education, VIT, welcomed the gathering. VIT has arranged free bus transport daily from the Chittoor Bus Stand in Katpadi to enable the participants to reach VIT.
