- 10th National DNA Day on Personalised Medicine
2023 marks the 201st year of Gregor Mendel’s birthday. Acknowledged as the Father of Genetics, Mendel’s studies on the pea plant paved way for experiments that could shape the future of genetics and thereby leading to the discovery of DNA and its structure. April 25, 1953, witnessed a breakthrough in the history of genetics as the article on double helical structure of DNA was published in Nature by Francis Crick and James Watson along with Maurice Wilkins and Rosalind Franklin. Consequently, Watson and Crick jointly won the Nobel prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1962.
